Elmien Pienaar

I graduated from the Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg) in South Africa in December 1987, achieving my B. Commerce degree with Accounting as my major.

After working in a bank as a loan officer for large companies, analysing their financial situations, and then later as an accounting exec for a wholesale bakery, I started my accounting firm in Pretoria, SA, in December 1989. I was qualified as a CFA  (the equivalent to a CGA in Canada) and did full circle accounting, taxes, financial statements and generally attending to all my client's financial needs.

On immigrating to Canada, November 2003, I settled the family into our new home and language (yes, Afrikaans is my mother tongue). In December 2004, I started working and doing data capturing for a bookkeeper in Lions Bay. I soon realized that I wanted more - I can't just sit and enter cheques - it's not a challenge at all. Thus, I'm back in full circle accounting - what I absolutely love to do.

I'm also involved in some consulting work - management advice, optimizing billing and scheduling software and doing the financial portion of business plans. Helping my clients with expansions – opening multi locations – is a challenge as not 2 areas have the same effect on the same business, but also to be able to have to infrastructure that we can manage and see all the is going on in each location.

My passion is to get a company whose bookkeeping hasn't been done for years and get everything organized and up to date and to produce financial statements. A box full of paperwork puts a big smile on my face.

I see my role as bookkeeper, as a partnership with the owner/president/CEO. We form a team and working close together finding the optimum solution for the company, may that be employment challenges, service pricing, banking solutions, etc, etc. Also working very closely with the company’s CA/CGA to ensure all financial needs are met.

To my existing clients - a big THANK YOU!
To prospective clients - I look forward to meeting you.
